In a tight contest at Quick Stop Stadium, the Asheville Boomsticks edged the Dam Site Drifters by the score of 4-3. Asheville shortstop Ed Morrow, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. The win elevated the Boomsticks to 71-65.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With no one out, Morrow hit a changeup from Tim Lister for a solo home run. The Boomsticks, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Dam Site manager Andy Evans. "But we decided not to take it."
