Not everyone stuck through the 47-minute rain delay, but those who did went home happy.
The Reykjavik Phoenix knocked off the Central Valley Turkey Vultures, 5-4, at Flaming Ashes Ballpark. William Stephens was a big reason Reykjavik won. The third baseman was 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Herman Nance was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 15 of 20 save opportunities.
António Bolton took Flint Hardy deep in the bottom of the eighth. His 2-run home run put the Phoenix on top, 5-4. In all, Bolton had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Bolton said.
Their 54-77 record puts the Phoenix 8th in the To The Wall Baseball Nationalist League.
