Red Birds Turn Back Phoenix, 4-2

The Columbus Red Birds topped the Reykjavik Phoenix, 4-2, in To The Wall Baseball action at Flaming Ashes Ballpark. The game was highlighted by the performance of Columbus pitcher Bill McKnight. Jorge Vargas got the save, his 9th in 10 chances. Columbus improves to 74-48 with the win. They lead their division by 7½ games.
Columbus relied on the hitting of Kamala Kamaluhaiakapu to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Red Birds on top, 4-1. For the game, Kamaluhaiakapu had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Columbus manager Joe Koralewski.
