Vernal Slugs Hitmakers to 8-7 Win
Ernesto Vernal made an impact in the 8-7 Motown win over Reykjavik. Vernal, who finished 2nd in the TTWB in doubles with 50 in 2049, belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. The winner was Bartolo Sánchez, who threw 99 pitches over 6 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 6 hits. Juan García was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 24 of 27 save opportunities.

Vernal had a key at-bat for Motown early in the game. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 11th home run of the season and gave Motown an early 2-0 lead.
