Yard Cats Stay Hot, Beat Indians, 4-3
|
The Ypsi Yard Cats picked up a win at The Squid's Beak, knocking off the Indianapolis Indians, 4-3. Starting pitcher Sam Hicks was a big reason why. Hicks got the win, improving to 6-3. He allowed 5 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. Hicks allowed 3 runs. Ernesto Santiago earned his 10th save in 14 chances.
In the bottom of the sixth, Ypsi left fielder Bernardo Portillo hit a two-strike fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It put the Yard Cats up, 4-3.
"This is not a one-man show," said Hicks. "A lot of the guys stepped up."
With the victory, the Yard Cats upped their record to 76-43.
