The Texas Renegades got a superb performance from pitcher Kian Hayward, but the Columbus Red Birds still won the game, 3-1. Hayward threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Reliever Rickey Gentry picked up the win. His record improves to 7-9. Kian Hayward took the loss. With the victory, the Red Birds upped their record to 70-45.

Columbus took a 3-1 lead on Luke Morris's 1st home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Texas pitcher Kian Hayward in the bottom of the eighth.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Columbus manager Joe Koralewski said.
