Fans saw a dandy of a game between the Asheville Boomsticks and Reykjavik Phoenix.

The Asheville Boomsticks scored a tight 3-2 win versus the Reykjavik Phoenix at Quick Stop Stadium. Asheville pitcher Walter Johnson held his own in the contest. Asheville reliever John Harris got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Eric Short was tagged with the loss.

Asheville won the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. With one out and Eric Short on the mound for Reykjavik, designated hitter John Dunsmore hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Boomsticks fans to their feet.

"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Johnson.

The win puts Asheville at 57-51 this season.
