Mud Hens Prevail, 7-5, Over Duke City
|
The Great Black Swamp Mud Hens defeated the Duke City Heisenbergs, 7-5, at The Nest today. Leading the charge for Great Black Swamp was right fielder Álex Reyes. He was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, while scoring 2 times. Dave Harding was the winning pitcher. Over 6 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. Sean Barrett converted his 23rd save in 24 tries.
The Heisenbergs had been locked in a 4-4 tie with the Mud Hens going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the former first round draft pick Jassiem Coblah came to the plate. Coblah hit a bases-clearing double on a full count fastball from Duke City hurler Hoo-gwo Teng. It was Coblah's 23rd double of the year.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Reyes told the Great Black Swamp Gazette.
The Mud Hens raised their record to 43-64.
