In the 4-3 Great Black Swamp win over Asheville, the impact of Roberto Ayala was substantial. Ayala was 1 for 1 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The Mud Hens raised their record to 39-59.

Ayala had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 0-1 fastball from Dale Fleming, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Mud Hens a 4-1 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Ayala.
