The Letterkenny Shamrocks trumped the Diablo Canyon Tritium, 3-2, at Letterkenny Memorial Ballpark. Letterkenny designated hitter Orlando Serrano was terrific. He was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. John Totten, the winner, improved to 8-7. He held the Tritium to 2 runs on 4 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Driscoll Peaty got the save, his 22nd in 24 chances.
Serrano had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a first pitch forkball from Aaron Chávez, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Shamrocks a 3-1 lead. It was the 14th home run of the year for Serrano.
Serrano said his team "played with determination."
The Shamrocks saw their record improve to 44-51.
