Red Birds Drop Turkey Vultures, 9-5
|
People outside the ballpark no doubt heard the roar of the crowd as the winning run crossed the plate.
Central Valley center fielder Adam Monte was sensational. He belted 2 home runs, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Columbus beat the Turkey Vultures, 9-5. Matt Bailey notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now sits at 5-0.
Columbus won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With no outs and Luis Antonio Silva on the mound for Central Valley, center fielder Miguel González hit a dramatic grand slam home run, bringing Red Birds fans to their feet.
"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Columbus manager Joe Koralewski.
The winning streak has now reached 4 games for the Red Birds.
