The Reykjavik Phoenix picked up a win at Fission Field, knocking off the Diablo Canyon Tritium, 5-2. Starting pitcher Bobby McMillan played a key role in the triumph. McMillan, now 7-6, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 9, walking 3, and allowing 2 earned runs. Brett Fitzgerald got the save, his 16th in 19 chances.
The result might have been different for Reykjavik, had it not been for Harry Hickey. The left fielder produced a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Phoenix ahead, 2-0. For the game, Hickey had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Phoenix manager Arthur Ecklund. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
The last-place Tritium have lost 4 consecutive games.
