Boomsticks Upend Drifters, 6-3
|
Asheville Boomsticks starter Dale Fleming pitched effectively against the Dam Site Drifters at Superior Stadium. The left-hander spearheaded his team's 6-3 win. Fleming went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 8. His record improves to 7-4. Steve Emery notched his 18th save in 18 chances.
Asheville used the timely hitting of Ed Morrow to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Boomsticks on top, 6-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Morrow told the Asheville Gazette. "It's as simple as that."
With the win, Asheville upped its record to 41-36.
