Payne Holds Great Black Swamp Scoreless
It wasn't easy but the Central Valley Turkey Vultures made it look that way.

Starter Tim Payne shut out the Great Black Swamp Mud Hens despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Central Valley Turkey Vultures cruised to victory, 6-0. Payne allowed only 2 hits and rang up 11 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.

"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."

For this year Payne has chalked up 3 wins and 8 losses in 15 starts with 86 strikeouts in 105 innings and a 4.29 ERA.
