Yard Cats Beat Visiting Heisenbergs, 6-5
|
The Ypsi Yard Cats and Duke City Heisenbergs obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.
The 6-5 Ypsi win over Duke City was due largely to Alfonso Alemán. The Yard Cats right fielder was 1-1 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Iván Sandoval notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.1 innings. His record now sits at 5-0.
Had Lorenzo Hernández not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Hernández hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Yard Cats.
"Winning never gets dull," said Hernández.
The win gives Ypsi a season record of 42-27.
