Boomsticks Improve to 34-29 with 4-3 Win
|
The Asheville Boomsticks did just enough to sneak past the Ludington LumberJacks, 4-3, at Quick Stop Stadium. Asheville pitcher Dale Fleming, in particular, had a standout performance. The win belongs to Nobuhito Sai in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Felipe Leyva took the loss for Ludington. The win gives Asheville a season record of 34-29.
Spring Hill, Florida-born Jeff Lawler came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded and the Boomsticks trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run single to left to put Asheville on top.
"Dale was throwing free and easy," said Asheville manager Jon Papp.
