Red Birds Prevail, 5-3, Over Reykjavik

Columbus and Reykjavik duked it out and the Red Birds came out victorious.
The Columbus Red Birds beat the Reykjavik Phoenix, 5-3, at Griffith's Park. The win was due in part to left fielder Lorenzo González, who was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Jorge Vargas collected his 3rd save.
With Columbus leading 2-1 in the bottom of the second, González hit a fastball from Arturo Cintrón for a 2-run home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Red Birds ahead, 4-1.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Columbus manager Joe Koralewski.
Columbus raised its record to 34-24 with the win.
