Watanabe Leads Boomsticks to 5-2 Win Over Shamrocks
The Asheville Boomsticks trumped the Letterkenny Shamrocks, 5-2, at Letterkenny Memorial Ballpark. Asheville second baseman Yoshino Watanabe was terrific. He was 2-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Stanley Allen went 8 innings for Asheville to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs. He scattered 10 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 1. His record improves to 1-0. Asheville now has a record of 30-26 with the win.

Watanabe had a timely hit for Asheville in the top of the seventh. With Letterkenny trailing 2-1, he turned a 0-1 changeup into a 3-run home run. It was his 7th home run of the season, making it 4-2, Asheville.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Asheville manager Jon Papp. "Our pregame was pretty good."
