Fishers Come Up Short at Asheville, 2-1
|
Despite the rain, the fans at Quick Stop Stadium enjoyed a good ballgame.
Asheville starter Lien-ying Xun pitched well against the Wildwood Fishers at Quick Stop Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 2-1. Xun, the winner, moves to 6-2. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 1 walk.
The Boomsticks got a big at-bat from shortstop Lorenzo Solís. For the game, Solís was 1 for 2 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 7th double of the season gave Asheville a 2-0 lead.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Wildwood skipper Scott Smith, "and it cost us."
The win gives Asheville a season record of 27-21.
