Tritium Come Up Short at Motown, 2-1
|
Jesús Pérez pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Diablo Canyon Tritium, despite Pérez's fine outing, dropped a 2-1 decision to the Motown Hitmakers at Old League Park. Bartolo Sánchez picked up the win with 5.2 innings of work. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 7. On the season, he is now 5-2. Juan García recorded the save for Motown, his 11th of the season.
The Hitmakers got a big at-bat from shortstop Luis González. For the game, González went 1-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Motown a 2-1 lead.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Diablo Canyon skipper PA Blaylock, "and it cost us."
Motown now has a record of 29-17 with the win.
