Boomsticks Drop Hitmakers, 5-2, with Late Score

Asheville pitcher Nate Díaz did his part in helping his team beat the Motown Hitmakers, 5-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Steve Emery collected his 6th save. The triumph puts Asheville at 23-17 for the season.
Asheville center fielder Javier Peña had a key at-bat for the Boomsticks in the top of the ninth inning. Facing Motown pitcher Juan García, Peña hit a 3-run home run to make the score 5-2, Asheville. For the day, he was 1 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"We had a good game plan," Díaz said, "and we were able to execute it."
