House of Brews Deal LumberJacks 4-3 Loss
|
Newcastle House of Brews right-hander Jerry Elder pitched a good game against the Ludington LumberJacks at Husqvarna Field, leading his team to victory, 4-3. Elder, now 3-3, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 3 runs. Will Starks earned the save, his 11th, for the House of Brews.
Newcastle used a well-timed hit by Anuenue-Akua Mamo to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the House of Brews ahead, 4-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Elder said after the game.
Newcastle raised its record to 24-16 with the win.
