The Phoenix Downs picked up a win at The Ashes, taking down the Iowa City Stalkers, 5-2. Starting pitcher Ken Richard was a big reason why. Lyndon Hosking collected save number 10. Phoenix, at 17-21, occupies 8th place in the To The Wall Baseball Patriotic League.

One of the biggest contributors for Phoenix was center fielder Juan Gómez. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, Gómez got a 2-2 fastball and hit a run-scoring triple. That put the Downs on top, 2-0.

"Ken is still learning," said Downs manager Walt Partlo. "The sky's the limit for him."
