Stalkers Get Past Great Black Swamp for 4-3 Win
|
The Iowa City Stalkers topped the Great Black Swamp Mud Hens, 4-3, in To The Wall Baseball action at The Nest. The standout performance belonged to Iowa City pitcher and Nandun, China, native Fu-Kang Ow. Harold Parker, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 5th save. With the win, the Stalkers improved to 17-20.
Iowa City needed the clutch hitting of José Martínez to notch the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Stalkers on top, 4-3. For the game, Martínez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Ow told the Iowa City Citizen.
