LumberJacks Prevail, 5-3, Over Dam Site
|
The Ludington LumberJacks withstood an impressive performance by Dam Site first baseman Gerardo Velázquez to defeat the Drifters, 5-3, at Husqvarna Field. Velázquez hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The winner in relief was Broderick Harper. He is now 2-2. The left-hander allowed 3 runs on 4 hits in 5.2 innings. The Drifters fall to 14-18 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2052 season.
Ben Curry, who is on pace to hit 46 home runs this season, contributed to the Ludington win with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the second. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Ludington manager Sam Genson.
