Brian Hicks Notches Number 300
What would you do after you had just won your 300th game? Run around Fission Field doing cartwheels, jumping for joy and waving to the crowd? Well, maybe you and I would do that, but not Brian Hicks -- that's not his way.

After he notched number 300, the 41-year-old Wildwood hurler spoke to the press like he always has -- in a soft, quiet voice. He wasn't doing any cartwheels or even anything resembling a jump for joy. "Obviously it feels very good," Hicks commented. "To win this many games, you've got to have a lot of help."

Hicks got his milestone victory by beating the Diablo Canyon Tritium 6-2. He held them to 5 hits in 9 innings and rung up 13 strikeouts with 2 walks.

After sharing his thoughts with the press, he went to the clubhouse. There he was greeted by the guys who had helped him get #300. His teammates drenched him and then gave him a rousing round of applause. That got to him -- for the first time today, Hicks's face broke into a big smile.

So far in Hicks's career, the 41-year-old starter has won 300 and lost 141, collecting 3442 strikeouts with a 3.18 ERA. Opponents have hit .250 against him.
