Griffith's Park was host to some intense drama.

The Columbus Red Birds topped the Ypsi Yard Cats, 9-8, in To The Wall Baseball action at Griffith's Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Columbus pitcher José Rocha. Columbus reliever Jorge Vargas picked up the win to move to 1-0. Greg Soto suffered the loss.

The Red Birds relied on shortstop John Mer for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 11th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.

"Great to get the crowd on its feet," Mer said.

The defeat makes Ypsi 19-10.
