Vélez Lays Hammer Down in 5-1 Win
The Duke City Heisenbergs and Indianapolis Indians were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

Indianapolis got a strong outing from José Vélez as the Indians defeated the Duke City Heisenbergs, 5-1, at James R. Fouts Memorial Stadium. Whit Cunningham picked up the save, his 2nd.

Vélez, the Indianapolis right-hander, went 8.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits. He collected 10 strikeouts.

"José had electric stuff," said Indianapolis manager Mike Leslie.

Duke City falls to 8-18.
