Starting pitcher Jimmy Hodge pitched well enough to help the Columbus Red Birds beat the Ludington LumberJacks, 9-6. Rickey Gentry got the save, the 8th for him this season. The win gives Columbus a record of 15-10.

The Red Birds got an important contribution from second baseman Yoriie Kokawa, who in the bottom of the second hit a curveball into right for a 2-run double. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the Red Birds ahead, 4-0.

"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Hodge.
