Duke City Roughed Up By Hitmakers
|
The Duke City Heisenbergs and Motown Hitmakers were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Motown Hitmakers beat the Duke City Heisenbergs by a score of 9-3. Motown second baseman Tony Huertas deserved the lion's share of the credit. Huertas hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Hitmakers. Bill Pilgrim was the winning pitcher. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with 3 walks and 8 strikeouts.
Motown relied on the hitting of Vicente Soto to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Hitmakers on top, 6-2. For the game, Soto had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Corey Slutsky said.
The Hitmakers, now 16-5, have hit the ground running this season.
