Reykjavik Beats Duke City, 4-2
|
The Reykjavik Phoenix picked up a win at James R. Fouts Memorial Stadium, knocking off the Duke City Heisenbergs, 4-2. Starting pitcher Bobby McMillan was a big reason why. McMillan got the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed 7 hits and walked 2 over 8 innings. McMillan allowed 2 runs. Brett Fitzgerald was credited with the save for Reykjavik, his 2nd of the season.
Reykjavik used the timely hitting of Harry Hickey to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Phoenix on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Reykjavik skipper Arthur Ecklund. "I can't complain."
The defeat makes Duke City 1-6.
