Red Birds Prevail, 6-4, Over Wicker Park
|
The Columbus Red Birds topped the Wicker Park Devil Cats, 6-4, in To The Wall Baseball action at Griffith's Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Columbus pitcher José Soto. Soto went 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 1-1. Rickey Gentry was credited with the save for Columbus, his 2nd of the season.
Eduardo Martínez dealt the Devil Cats a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with runners on 1st and 3rd and Columbus leading 3-1, Martínez hit a 0-1 fastball for a 2-run double.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Martínez said after the game.
The win puts Columbus at 3-3.
