Boomsticks Win at Indianapolis, 5-4
The Indianapolis Indians and Asheville Boomsticks provided some drama for the home crowd.

Ken Whitaker was a major contributor to the 5-4 Asheville win over Indianapolis. The Boomsticks third baseman went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. John Harris got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 4 innings. The save went to Steve Emery, his 1st this season.

Asheville relied on the hitting of John Dunsmore to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Boomsticks on top, 4-2. For the game, Dunsmore had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

Whitaker told the Asheville Bulletin: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."

The win gives the Boomsticks a record of 1-3.
