Red Birds Spoil Opening Day for Drifters, Their Fans
Superior Stadium was the site of the home opener for the Dam Site Drifters. The contest featured a prime matchup between José Soto of the visiting Columbus Red Birds and Ling-lai Ran of the Drifters. The final score was 7-5, the Red Birds getting the win. Yoriie Kokawa turned in the best performance. José Soto earned the win for Columbus. He lasted 6.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 1-0.

Lorenzo González, the 27-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. González contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put Columbus up, 2-0.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," González said.
