Fans of the Iowa City Stalkers who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Iowa City win over the visiting Motown Hitmakers, 4-2. Mark Townsley started for the home team against Michael Booth. Michael Booth earned accolades for his performance.

Mitch Jones was the walk-off hero for Iowa City. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Stalkers left fielder hit a dramatic 2-run home run to send the teams home.

Jones said his team "played with focus."
