Hilton Smith of the Hesperia Hornets put on a pitching clinic today at Wayfarers Ballpark as he struck out 16 Potomac Politicals in a 3-1 victory. Smith, who is tied for 10th in the FRL with a 1.01 WHIP, was simply magnificent as he held the Politicals to 3 hits. He walked 4.

"I felt okay at the beginning," Smith said, "but eventually my cutter really started working. I also have to thank my catcher for calling a great game."

When asked about Smith's performance, Hornets manager shook his head and said, "Yeah, he was good out there today. He was dominating."

This year Smith has a 3-1 record with a 3.32 ERA.
