SL2's #1 Player, Valverde of Iowa Monday, June 3rd , 2052 19-year-old Jorge Valverde made a few Iowa headlines during this past week as the rookie center fielder proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Sub League 2 officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 12 hits in 22 at-bats to put up a .545 average. Valverde collected 1 home run, 6 RBIs and scored 7 runs. On the year Valverde is hitting .385 with 40 hits, 4 home runs, 18 RBIs, .500 OBP and has scored 23 runs. |
