Nieves Tames Blizzards

Before the game, Ángelo Nieves said he liked his chances. His instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing at Blizzards Stadium, the Canines pitcher whitewashed the Louisville Blizzards 8-0.

"I just had a feeling it was going to be my day," Nieves said in the clubhouse afterward. "My control was awesome. I could throw my changeup even when I was behind in the count."

The Colonial Heights starter held Louisville scoreless, giving up 4 hits while registering 7 strikeouts and issuing 1 walk.

"We didn't have very many good at-bats," Blizzards manager said in his postgame interview. "When that happens, you usually lose."
