Barons Paste 6-2 Loss on Patriots

The Hamlinburg Barons picked up a win at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, taking down the Western Patriots, 6-2. Starting pitcher Larry Small was a big reason why. Small picked up the win for Hamlinburg, going 7 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 4-6. Hamlinburg, now 32-42, holds down last place in the Theodore Roosevelt League Rhode Island Division.
Hamlinburg used the timely hitting of Carlos Fernández to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Barons on top, 4-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I like winning," Fernández told the Hamlinburg Bulletin. "I may joke around, but when it comes down to it, winning is the most important thing."
