Surprise Prevail, 3-2, Over Western
|
The Western Patriots and Portsmouth Surprise provided some drama for the home crowd.
Portsmouth picked up a win at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, bumping off the Western Patriots, 3-2. Pitcher Joe Cates was a major reason the Surprise emerged victorious. With the win, Portsmouth raised its record to 33-25.
In the top of the first, Otis Espinoza ambushed a 0-1 fastball from Johan Santana and hit a 2-run home run. It gave Portsmouth a quick 2-0 lead.
"Feels good to get the job done," Espinoza said after the game.
